In 1998, the Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche d'Outre-Mer(CERFOM) set up an exhibition entitled "Esclavage" (Slavery). The association, based in Creteil, set up 55 panels of 60X80 cm and 27 texts on the subject of slavery and its abolition.
The exhibition was installed in many places, such as:
- The administrative center of Orly
- The Palais des Sports in Créteil
- The Chèques Postaux in Paris
- Maisons-Alfort
- The Nouvelle France centre in Montreuil
- The Georges Brassens centre in Vigneux
- UNESCO
- The Louvres
- Cayenne
This exhibition played an important educational role: since 1998, it was widely presented in Créteil schools, accompanied by an educational document put together for this purpose.
