On the occasion of 160th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, the Association Relais de Gorée organised a walk from Bordeaux to Nantes via La Rochelle, entitled "Marchez Avec Nous” (Walk with us). This journey through a total of 23 towns linked to the slave trade was to be held from the 28th of April to the 19th of May 2008.

Since 2014, the association Esclavage, Mémoires Présentes organises the "Days of Memories" in the city of Montauban (Midi-Pyrénées). During this event, which lasts for about a month, conferences, exhibitions, readings and film screenings on the subject of slavery and the slave trade are organised.

In 2014, several associations including the Mouvement International pour les Réparations (MIR), the Conseil Représentatif des Associations Noires de France (CRAN) and the Collectif Un Passé Trop Présent signed a call for unity asking for the 10th May 2014 to focus on reparations and for a real debate on reparation policy. A rally took place on the 10th May 2014 in Place Edmond Rostand.

This conference on reparations for slavery, co-organized by the Association Racines and the Association Guadeloupéenne pour la recherche en histoire du droit et des institutions d’outre-mer (GREHDIOM) under the patronage of the UNESCO, was held on 16-17 of December 2006 at the Cité des Métiers in the Abymes, Guadeloupe. Numerous discussions and debates were had around the question of reparations and the Taubira law.

In 2011, the Mouvement International pour les Réparations (MIR) organised a symposium on reparations in Guadeloupe in collaboration with the Comité International des Peuples Noirs (CIPN) and the association Racines. The aims of the symposium were to identify development strategies based on reparations for peoples of African origin. The symposium came to a number of conclusions affirming that:

A botched police intervention on 17 October 2013 in Garges-lès-Gonesse (a commune in the northern suburbs of Paris) resulted in the family in question lodging a complaint with the General Inspectorate of the National Police (Inspection générale de la police nationale, IGPN) for physical violence and racial discrimination they experienced at the hands of the police. The Saounaré family also wrote letters to the interior and justice ministers outling their grievances.

On 4th May 2015, the Conseil Représentatif des Associations Noires (CRAN), the Ligue Internationale contre le Racisme et l'Antisémitisme (LICRA) et the Musée de l’immigration organised a colloquium entitled 'Crimes against humanity and reparations.
