Founded in 2011, GREHDIOM focuses on colonial history and especially on the history of slavery law. The actions of the association include book publications, the online publication of historical documents, organizing conferences or other scientific events (seminars, round tables), study trips, cultural events and various media communications (press, radio, television, association’s website) focusing on current historical research. The president of the association, Jean -François Niort, is a member of the Comité scientifique et de pilotage du Mémorial ACTe Guadeloupe (Scientific and Management Committee for Mémorial ACTe; a Caribbean centre for the expression and memory of the slave trade and slavery) since 2010.
