Tillinac Report: Le comité de Réflexion sur la Traite des noirs

On 18th July 2015, Hugues Martin, the deputy-mayor of Bordeaux, launched the '' ('Committee for reflecting upon proposals relating to the Black slave trade in Bordeaux') and entrusted its presidency to Denis Tillinac, a journalist and writer. This group of experts and public figures was charged with the task of suggesting proposals to create a lasting testimonial to Bordeaux's duty to remember. In this committee were two representatives from the associations: Karfa Diallo, the president of the association DiversCités (currently president of the association Mémoires et Partages) and Michèle Trime, president of the association Flore la Négrière. After this report, a plaque was inaugurated on the ‘quai de Chartrons’ on 10th May 2006 by Hughes Martin and then a permanent exhibition was inaugurated at the  during the National day for remembering slavery, the slave trade and their abolition in 2009.
