Site of the Capitaine Dimitile

The Dimitile is located on the upstream part of the confluence of the arms of the Plaine and Cilaos, on the heights of the village of L'Entre-Deux. Dimitile consists of the southeast side of the ramparts of Cilaos formed by the volcanic flows of the Piton des Neiges massif. The association "Capitaine Dimitile" is working to restore the site, where many Maroons (runaway slaves) took refuge, including the famous " Capitaine Dimitile". There, the association notably restored a Maroon camp.
