The Morne de la Mémoire in the Abymes represents five open books containing a list of 1480 names of women and men who were captured to be enslaved in the Abymes. Designed by John Moisa and created by marble artists Alain and Jean- Marc Bunel, the Morne de la Mémoire is notably used as a venue for the ceremonies commemorating the abolition of slavery on the 27th of May.
