Canal des Rotours

The Canal des Rotours is nearly 6 km long, and was dug under the bed of a small canal named Ravine des Coudes, to allow the drainage of the plain. The canal was dug by slaves in the early 19th century (1826 to 1830), and nearly thirty of them died during its construction.
