Historical overview: 

The CCAETN was created in 2006 in Angers, and declared in 2008. The association organises numerous events in the town around the 10th of May. At the initiative of CCAETN and with the partnership of the Municipality of Trélazé (49), a commemorative plaque was laid at the foot of the Palmier de la Dignité in Trélazé on the 4th of May 2013, on the occasion of the Journée de Sensibilisation et d'Education autour de l'esclavage et des Traites Négrières (Day of Awareness and Education about slavery and the slave trade).

Summary of objectives: 
  • To enable citizens to better understand the slave trade and enslavement inflicted on the people of Africa, Madagascar, Pacific Islands and Caribbean
  • To raise citizens and institutions' awareness about the conditions, mechanisms and consequences of these acts
