Previously based in Paris and set up by doctoral students, the Association pour la connaissance, l’étude et la mémoire de l’esclavage (A.C.E.M.E.) has been located in Brittany since 2001. During the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery, A.C.E.M.A participate in different events and published a variety of articles on its website.

Summary of objectives: 

In 1998, the goal of the A.C.E.M.E. was to study issues related to the slave trade and slavery, based mainly on the work of young researchers worldwide.

In 2001, the association added to its objectives:

  • To develop all forms of collaboration with private associations or organisations in order to meet the goal mentioned above.
