Historical overview:

Founded in 1985, Ankraké is a cultural association based in La Réunion, working to raise awareness about the history and heritage of La Réunion through work on memory, conferences, poetry contests, exhibitions, workshops, cultural exchanges between France, Indian Ocean and the Caribbean, broadcasting live shows, etc.

In 2011, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the slave revolt in Saint- Leu, the association opened an exceptional summer camp to allow children to discover that part of their history through meetings with academics, historians and artists and an introduction to the practice of Moringue, maloya and theater.
