Only ruins remain of the indigo plantation of the Anse à la Barque, site were the indigo plants were cultivated. The colour from the leaves and stems gave the indigo color. Each indigo plantation is normally composed of three tanks, a trempoir (to soak), a batterie (to beat) and a reposoir (to let the product rest), however only the first two tanks were found on the site of the Anse à la Barque.
