Site overview:
The Château Dubuc, now in ruins, was the property of the family Du Buc in the eighteenth century. Pierre Du Buc, arrived in Martinique in 1657 to grown sugar cane, coffee and tobacco. His grand-son built the Château Du Buc between 1720 and 1725. They are suspected of having clandestinely traded slaves, because the property comprises dungeons and warehouses that are too large compared to the size of the sugar refinery. The castle now houses a small museum.
